COSTA DEL FOLK ….. a message from Mike
Now I’ve got my breath back, and in case you hadn’t heard, I thought I should tell you that the Costa del Folk was a triumph. None of us had a clue whether running an English folk festival in Southern Spain would work. But the verdict from hundreds of happy holidaymakers and over twenty great folk acts was that it was great. The sun shone, the music was stunning, and at the end of each day everyone had a comfy bed to sleep in.
But don’t just listen to me. This is what some of the acts thought:
“Hotel and food was fab. All the staff were lovely and the enjoy travel reps really friendly and helpful.
The general atmosphere of the exclusive use hotel and facilities was fantastic for us (and I’m sure guests) alike.” – Laura, Blackbeard’s Tea Party.
“I would recommend the festival to anyone, performers and audiences alike (and I have!!)” – Flossie Malavialle.
“Good mix of established and new artists. Great food and accommodation. Overall a great atmosphere and well run event.” – Damien Barber, Demon Barber
“It felt like a regular festival but based in a hotel with sessions in the bar and a main stage outdoors with palm trees and a view of the beach and the sea.” Sam Pirt, Hut People
“It was very well organised with some great bands on, like Fairport, Show of Hands and the Demon Barbers. Everyone said it was wonderful and that they’d be back” Gary Hammond, Hut People.

“It was a great experience – summer in the middle of winter, English speaking, gorgeous food, wonderful music. The craic was great; the staff were wonderful, smiley, helpful, fun.” – Niamh Parsons
It goes without saying that it was a wonderful concept – a festival in the sun! – Miranda Sykes, Show of Hands.
The admin/organisation was first class – all documentation was clear, correct and timely. Travel went smoothly, accommodation, food, hotel all great. – John Watterson (Fake Thackray)
“A fantastic festival which I’m sure will flourish over time. Everyone I spoke with had a great time and was hugely impressed that this was the first year!” – Phil Simpson, Overseas Agent for Fairport Convention.
